The 6-week Experience

August 15th—Sept 26th
Hybrid Schedule
$1500

This is a 6-week, immersive, hands-on learning experience. During my time in wine, I’ve learned the most when I was able to take my time, slow down the process, ask a million questions, connect with other learners, and utilize the connection of food and wine. That’s exactly what we’ll be doing. I’ll be teaching you how to understand wine practically and in community. We’ll reimagine and co-create what “the classroom” can be. By the end of our time together, you’ll be able to identify the components of wine, determine what styles you like, and feel comfortable talking about it in a way that feels good for you.

Course structure

Each week we’ll meet as a group for a 2-hour session (In-person and virtually.)  This is not a series where you sit and listen to an instructor throwing wine terminology at you. Each class will be a hands-on and interactive.

What will the course structure look like?

  • Week 1: Tasting and Terminology

  • Week 2: The Magic of Pairing

  • Week 3: White Wine Styles and Grapes

  • Week 4: Skin Contact and Rosé

  • Week 5: Red Wine Styles and Grapes

  • Week 6: Bubbles

What Can I expect each week?

Each week, we will:

  • Dive into a particular style (ex-sparkling, skin contact, etc.)

  • Learn and practice wine terminology, through an immersive discovery and sensory experience.

  • Taste with food-if you’re in person- to deepen your knowlege about how to pair and to experience the synergy of food and wine.

  • Dissect and analyze the structural components of wine (all the skills you need for blind tasting.)

  • Explore popular grapes and their common traits

  • Investigate soil types and how they impact wine

  • Develop an undsertanding of the winemaking process and how vessels influence what we taste.

My expectation for you as a learner is to be an active participant in your journey. Come with curiosity. Come with excitement. Come with the wilingness to get it wrong, before you get it right. Most importantly, come ready to play! We’ll be learning a great deal, but doing so in a way that wine is intended to be used-at the table, with food, sharing ideas and growing together. We’ll be transforming the classroom to something approachable and fun, all the while equipping you with high-level wine knowledge.
